Question:

Hi - I recently heard of a book titled 'Urantia' which claims to have some historical background around the missing years of Jesus (from the Bible). The book covers other aspects of Jesus life. I haven't read the book myself and hence wanted to know if you have heard of this book? Is this book catholic?

Joseph

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary

Dear Joseph:

The Urantia Book, according to the official website of the Uranta Foundation, "claims to have been presented by celestial beings as a revelation to our planet."

Again, quoting from the Foundation website:

Urantia Foundation was established in 1950 to be the custodian of the inviolate text of The Urantia Book and to ensure that the book's teachings are spread, with the help of readers and fraternal organizations, to all people. Its ultimate mission is to increase and enhance the comfort, happiness, and well being of man, as an individual and as a member of society, through the fostering of a religion, a philosophy, and a cosmology which is in line with man's current intellectual and cultural development.

I believe them when they say this book is the "revelation" of celestial beings. Those "beings" are otherwise called "demons." This garbage is certainly not from God.

There is no credible history of the Jesus or the Church, or of any other history that can be found in this book.

I would advise not reading this book as it appears to be inspired by demons and would have absolute no information in it of use to a Catholic or any Christian. Furthermore, reading books like this can be serious damage to one's soul and, in some instances, even allow demons to enter one's life. I have had clients demonized to high levels, even possession, by reading books like this.

Anyone who has a copy of it, bless it with Holy Water, then burn it, then bury the ashes.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
