Question: Hello Brother, Are you familiar with "The Entity" case? There was a movie made on it in the early 1980's. I'm curious to hear your take on this case which, if true, is unique and extremely frightening. Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM Dear Omar: From the reports of this case it does appear that something was going on in the home. The reports of paranormal events are consistent with what I know to be real possibilities, including the demonic rape. I have experienced myself a sexual attack by a demon, so has my daughter. Such a thing does happen. The background of the mother and the life led by her and her children could certainly contribute to demonic harassment. As to the cause or source of this harassment I cannot say. Unfortunately the case was not properly investigated. The most striking aspect of the case is the outright incompetence of the so-called "investigators". Their method of investigation did nothing to help the poor woman and her children and actually made things worse. The "provocation technique" these investigators used is stupid and dangerous and a mark of an idiot. This technique seems to be a favorite among "paranormal investigators", which shows that their focus is on capturing phenomena at all cost (and getting ratings on their TV shows) and not on actually helping anyone. These groups do a great deal of damage and I think should be horse-whipped. What is needed in these cases is a pastoral approach with a solid understanding of theology (especially angelology), and an approach of healing in the name of Jesus that includes counseling to help the person to know the truth of Christ and to live the Christ-life. The only true deliverance comes from Christ, who is the truth, the way, and the life. It is the Truth that brings freedom and deliverance, not $100,000 worth of equipment, trying to capture phenomena, and all the stupid things paranormal investigators do. You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. Only as a person learns, accepts, and practices the truth in their lives, and gives themselves up to Christ, does a deliverance from these evil harassments become possible. God Bless, Bro.
