Question:

I so appreciate your prompt reply to my question about occult addiction. One thing I forgot to ask about, each time I have broken an addiction or compulsive behavior, I have done it swiftly and finally. For example I had an eating disorder for five years and then just one day stopped. Same thing with the psychics and such, just one day stopped (albeit after much prayer.)

Isn't the very nature of an addiction that it is almost impossible to control. Does my ability in these cases to stop almost entirely point toward it being the result of something outside of myself?

I thought a true addiction (if it is just physical or psychological) would always be a struggle. To be honest, today as I sit here I can't even relate to the old days of wanting to abuse my body through binging or the despair that would propel me to seek a "fortune-teller." I would love to think I "kicked" these things but from my understanding this is not how addiction works. In my heart I believe through prayer and seeking God's protection I have been set free from strongholds.

Along the same lines, this morning I took a small inventory of my home and came across some items of interest. One was a necklace (given to me by a customer after I expressed curiosity about it) which appears to be a small wooden, African mask. The other is a Jamaican coin given to me by a friend who I know dabbles in all sorts of occult behavior. I went through some drawers and threw away clippings of horoscopes and even some old love letters from an old boyfriend. The letters mentioned strongholds HE was trying to break free of (which he was unable to do, to my knowledge) and that's why we broke up. I figured at worst the letters were reminders of evil and negativity and why was I holding on to them?

At any rate, can you provide a link to a comprehensive list of items which should be removed from a home if demonic influence is suspected? Some are "no-brainers" but others wouldn't have occurred to me.

Dear Faith:

Some people are able to get over addictions easier than others. It is hard to say, based on this brief narrative, whether your case is one that is natural, or that you were specifically blessed by God with a healing. In any event, praise God that you were freed from these things.

On providing a list of things that should be removed from the home that may have demonic infestation, such a thing is not possible. ANYTHING can have a demonic infestation.

While all of us need to be circumspect about having these things in our house, those who have been demonized are particularly vulnerable and in greater need to destroy any of this stuff they find in their house.

Items should not be merely thrown away, but sprinkled with Holy Water with this prayer or something similar:

Father in heaven, I now bless this _______ and ask you to cast away never to harm anyone again any demonic infestation that it may contain. I ask this in the Name of your dear Son. Amen.

Then burn the item if it is burnable, if not, break it apart if possible, or otherwise destroy it if you can so that it no longer resembles what it was. Then bury the remains in the ground.

The obvious items are things like games videos, artwork, books, trinkets and such that have a particular theme of supporting, encouraging, or promoting, and any items used in, the occult, witchcraft, satanism, new age, and other such things.

One needs to be careful of artwork as well. Some of the cultural artwork from pagan or "shamanistic" societies or communities may have been "consecrated" to a false god or demon. If there is a suspicion it is better safe than sorry.

Music needs to be examined as well. Many of the Heavy Metal bands and other rock bands include lyrics that are of the culture of death and/or demonic in theme. In addition, some of these bands actually consecrate their albums and songs to Satan.

Objects that do not have a particular occultic theme, but are suspected to be infested may be cleansed by a bath in Holy Water and a prayer of blessing if one wishes. The option to do the above procedure of destroying the object is always available.

Always be careful of occult-oriented people bearing gifts OR asking you for personal items (i.e. lock of hair, small article of clothing, finger nail clipping, etc.). It is best and safer to not accept gifts from such people and to certainly not grant their request for some personal item.

If an occult-oriented person (i.e. former roommate, boy/girl friend, spouse, friend, family member, etc.) leaves something at your place, even if honestly forgotten, it is best to give that item back to its owner immediately if possible. If it is not possible or prudent to contact that person, then destroy the item.

Parents should remove occult items from their children's rooms (i.e. Ouija board, tarot cards, pentagrams, demonic oriented music, posters, games, etc.). These items should be destroyed and the child told to not bring that sort of thing into the house. There is NO "right to privacy" for children. The parents have the right, the duty, and the moral mandate to search their children's rooms and belongings if they suspect their child is dabbling into the occult, alcohol, drugs, or any other destructive activity.

These are some general principles from the top of my pointed head.

In real-life cases, I discuss with the client the specifics and take it on a case-by-case basis.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
