Help Please! Friend involved in satanism Cecelia Friday, July 15, 2011

Question:

I have a friend I have known since high school. Back in high school he became interested in Anton LaVey. At that time a lot of kids were curious about many "darker" things, so I took it with a grain of salt. I remember, though, reminding him of our Catholic faith and that the devil is the prince of lies.

I do not see this friend too much anymore, but he did contact me not too long ago. Between his facebook and twitter updates and the texts and messages he's left me(we haven't actually talked) it appears he's gotten involved in paranormal "ghost" hunting. When he started texting me I had a terrible oppressive feeling come over me.

I'm very worried that he's gotten involved not only in the ghost aspect of the occult, but also satanism again(I believe this for multiple reasons at this point). He claims he was choked by something, and I'm very worried for him. At the same time I'm worried for myself as I don't want to get involved in any of this.

I've been praying every day for him. Should I stay away from this friend or should I try to still be a good friend and continue communication?

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OMSM(r)

Dear Cecelia:

It is probably wise to stay away from this person, especially since you experience an oppressive feeling. It is possible for a demon attached to him to transfer to you, especially if he comes to visit, or you visit him. If necessary, you might explain to him that as long as he is into the occult it is not wise for you to be around him. If you only contact has been Facebook and Twitter, you can "unfriend" him and just not contact him again.

Pray for him. Check out some of the prayers in our Spiritual Warfare Catalog linked below. There are prayers that your can pray on his behalf such as, Prayer for a Friend or Relative and Hedge Prayer for Return of Wayward Persons.

We will also be in prayer for him, and you.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
