Question:

I am a psychologist that works at a domestic violence and sexual assault agency. I have written to you two other times this past year about my agency's domestic violence shelters being haunted. You had explained that abuse victims, especially rape or incest, could have demons hitchhike onto them.

My agency just purchased a new shelter and we moved in about a month ago. I met with one of the residents yesterday for counseling (she was abused as a child, in an abusive relationship for 9 years, and was raped by this man on few occasions). The client lost it over the weekend, threatening shelter staff and residents, telling her children to leave she didn't want them and threatened to commit suicide. When i ask her about it yesterday, she said that it was because she didn't take her zoloft that day (she may not have taken it but that would not cause her to lash out like that, zoloft builds in the system and not taking it for one day is not a big deal) I explained this to her and she said that she had a panic attack. I drop it at that point. She later mentioned that her children made comments that her eyes were pure black throughout her ordeal.

She then mentioned that her daughter was in their bedroom reading when the door handle jiggled and the door flew open. My client went on to mention that she saw a shadow go to the back door of our shelter and jiggle the door knob.

Am I correct in thinking that she has a demonic attachment? Our agency has just open the shelter a month ago and we are already having activity.

Is it safe for me to continue working in this sort of agency? I feel like i cant escape this dark environment.

Thank you and God Bless.

Dear Hope:

These women need help. You provide a valuable service as a psychologist to these people. There is nothing to fear.

From what you describe, this woman may indeed have a demonic attachment or be demonized. She probably needs deliverance counseling. You can, if you are allowed, give her a copy of our Seven Steps to Self-Deliverance. If she is not Catholic, then the parts that are uniquely Catholic can be removed.

As for your self, you can pray a Hedge Prayer for Protection around yourself and your practice. I have recommended this before for a doctor who had many patients he thought may be demonized and had phenomena actually occurring in his house.

But, there is nothing to fear. God's power is absolute, and our faith is far more powerful than the devil.

In our Spiritual Warfare Catalog linked below we have some prayers for Professionals. I recommend you prayer the Hedge Prayer of Protection for Practice and Self. If you find specific problems developing, other prayers in the "For Professionals" section and other sections of the Catalog will be useful.

For your clients I recommend praying for all your client the Hedge Prayer of Protection for Patients/Clients. For clients you think may have spiritual/demonological problems like the one you mentioned here, then I recommend the prayer, Proxy Deliverance Prayer for a Patient/Client.

Always begin these prayer with the Prayer to St. Michael for Protection.

You can make referrals to us if the client is willing and has Internet access. You may also make an appointment with me to discuss particular clients (anonymously of course in concert with confidentiality policies) to help understand issues that may be going one and/or how you should handle those spiritual problems. Appointments can be requested by going to our email form: SPCDC Office

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
