Demon harrasment? Carrie Friday, October 14, 2011

Question:

Hi there, I hope you can help me. First, I’m not a catholic, but I am a protestant who tries to follow Christ and am looking to convert into the Catholic Church. I have only known the Lord for 4 years. Unfortunately, I practiced witchcraft (wicca) for 16 years and grew up in a new age environment. I have NOTHING to do with any occult activity anymore.

My question is, could I still be harassed by demons? I have horrible dreams sometimes where I’m possessed or other people around me are. During my years as a witch I saw someone possessed so that may have something to do with it. I have a hard time not listening to the music I used to (Marilyn Manson and others like it). I feel like daily I must fight thoughts of my old sinful ways regarding music, sex, and occult activities. What do you think this is and how can I be helped?

Thank you

Question Answered by

Dear Carrie:

I thank God that you have freed yourself from witchcraft and the New Age. I praise God that you are now ready to come into the Catholic Church, the church that Jesus founded.

Even though you have nothing to do with the occult anymore and I presume have asked God for forgiveness the consequences of your previous life can still remain. Coming into full fellowship with the Catholic Church and receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation its will help to resolve these residual issues. But, it most likely will take time and a lot of work on your part.

What you need to do firstly is to live the best Christian life you know how to live. If you are coming into the Catholic Church, even before you were Confirmed, you need to go to Mass each week. You will not be able to receive Communion until after you are confirmed. Thus, we go to Mass remain in the pew instead of going forward when Communion is distributed.

You may also participate in everything the Catholic Church has to offer, except for the Sacraments. Thus, you may participate in the devotions and prayers and works offered by the Catholic Church. You need to develop friendships within the Catholic Church.

In addition to that I would recommend that you follow the Seven Steps to Self-Deliverance linked below. I would also advise taking a look at our Spiritual Warfare Catalog linked below.

The key to the Christian life is perseverance. Thus you must persevere in the faith and persevere in working to heal from the consequences of your past life. It will not be easy, but you must persist. The devil will not want to let go of you and he can try to discourage you or harass you in many ways to try to get you to not be a Christian and especially not to enter the Catholic Church. Do not fear. Christ is with you. He and our Blessed Mother, St. Michael the Archangel, and your own personal Guardian Angel will all help you to persevere and find the victory and freedom from this harassment.

You are going in the right direction. Keep up the good work and do not despair. Know that these battles that you fight now God allows to strengthen your faith and love of Him.

We will keep you in our prayers.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
