War, Healing, and Satan Susan Wednesday, May 16, 2012

Question:

In your experience, what do you think about war--does that give Satan a foothold in a person's life? I know that people do things in war that they would never otherwise do because it is just a completely different world.

My husband served in Vietnam and seems obsessed with talking about it. For many years he said nothing. We visited the monument in DC about 10 years ago and he completely broke down. Now he talks about it as if it were yesterday and can't seem to let go of it. He also is still angry at the government who he says betrayed them all.

I have tried to talk to him about forgiving but it doesn't seem to help. I also pray for him for emotional healing. He now wants to revisit Vietnam for some reason, thinks he needs to make amends to the people there. It seems to me he is "stuck" in his past. Is there anything anyone can do to help?

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OMSM(r)

Dear Susan:

The devil considers war to be one big human sacrifice. That is why demons love war and that Satanic groups are always around military bases. Indeed demons can be present to encourage evil and make more misery for the soldiers.

As for your husband, it sounds like he is suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). He should go to the nearest Veterans Hospital and seek help. I did this in 1985, ten years after the war. The Veterans Hospitals and treatment of PTSD has come a long way since those times.

I would encourage him to seek help at the Veterans Hospital. There is freedom possible for him.

Going back to Vietnam has helped many Veterans. If that is what he needs, then that should be encouraged. If he asks at the Veterans Hospital there might be a group of Veterans planning the trip. It is better to go in a group of fellow Veterans.

Demons most often hitch-hike on problems that already exist. Just in case there are any of these nasties trying to make your husband's suffering more than it has to be, check out our Spiritual Warfare Prayer Catalog linked below. There are prayers of protection, prayers for deliverance, and rebuking prayer (to rebuke demons).

Prayer, and these spiritual warfare prayers, and supporting him with patience and understanding is what you can do for him. Also, encourage him (not nag him) to seek help at the VA.

You should call the VA yourself to see if there are any programs for spouses in your area since PTSD effects you and well as him. There is a VA PTSD website that you need to checkout. It includes information for spouses, but also call the VA center closest to you.

We will be in prayer for him, and for you.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
