Spirit of cruelty Lorraine Wednesday, March 20, 2013

Question:

Can someone have a "spirit of cruelty" or a "spirit of meanness" that manipulates them sometimes? I have a niece who seems pretty nice most of the time, and yet sometimes she expresses such meanness that it almost seems like she is a cruel person. I have seen this before in other people, as well. Just wondering if it would be appropriate to pray to rebuke the spirit of cruelty in the name of Jesus Christ, and ask for the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Love, for that person? Thank you, Lorraine

Dear Lorraine:

Any and all negative attributes can be a demon. Most often demons do not create problems but hitchhike on problems that already exist. Thus, if a person has a tendency toward a cruelty or meanness in their personality, demons will be happy to exploit that personality trait and make it worse than it would be otherwise.

Demons can also pounce upon someone when they open themselves up to it in some way and create personality and behavioral changes in a person that are unusual and not exhibited before.

Either way, it is prudent to rebuke the spirit of ______ (whatever the attribute is). We have such a prayer in our Spiritual Warfare Prayer Catalog, linked below. It is best that the person afflicted do the rebuking, but you can rebuke them too. Keep in mind that the most effective pray will be from the person himself, but our prayers for others are helpful.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
