Question:

I've been having a burning feeling in my heart sometimes when I think of a certain person or a prayer intention in relation to a particular person. Sometimes it just comes out of nowhere and I pray for that person. Can you please tell me what's going on? Does that person need special spiritual warfare prayers? What should I do when I experience it? Sometimes I get it late at night or early in the morning and I can't rest. Lately I've been praying for three people one after the other as I do not know who needs prayers.

Dear Therese:

Your experience may be a medical one, or a psychological one, or both. If this is this case, I am not qualified to advise you, especially in a forum like this where I have neither seen you personally, nor have talked with you directly. I also do not know what you mean by a "burning" sensation.

I would advise seeing a doctor and a psychologist to rule out any medical or psychological problems that may be causing this.

With that said, I suppose it is possible that this is a way that God is getting your attention to ask you to pray for someone, but I have not heard of God using this method before. Since we are talking about your heart, I would talk to doctor and/or psychologist about this before assuming anything else.

One thing I would advise on a spiritual level is to ask God to stop using this method to get your attention to pray for someone, assuming He is doing this. If the sensations do not stop then they are not coming from God as God will not force Himself upon you.

If the sensations are not coming from God, then they are either coming from medical/psychological issues, in which you need to see a medical professional, or they are coming demonic sources, in which case, the rebuking prayers and other prayers in our Prayer Catalog, linked below, are advised.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
