Question:

Dear Bro Ignatius,
A Catholic relative recently sent me a link to video about finding the Ark of the Covenant.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76gHaiVgnp0

I explained to him that we as Catholics, do not look for the Ark of the Covenant and that we believe that Mother Mary is considered the new Ark of the Covenant and explained why.
But I still wanted your take on the above video. I told him that I would try and find out if it was authentic but didnt find anything useful.
Thank you for your time and God bless.

Dear G.D.:

Well, first off that video is ridicules. If the Ark of the Covenant of Moses had been found this would have been all over the Vatican news. The assertions of the video are just another hoax.

As for looking for the Ark of the Covenant of Moses the Catholic Church does not discourage scientific investigations, and in fact, the Church, I believe, would encourage any archaeological investigations searching for the Ark. Finding the Ark would be the greatest archaeological find in human history. It would validate the Biblical narrative, the existence of Moses, and confirm the faith. It would be wonderful to find the Ark of the Mosaic Covenant.

What I think you are meaning is that we do not "need" to find the Ark of Moses as our Blessed Mother is the living Ark of the New Covenant. To find the Ark of Moses would be a great archaeological find, but the Covenant of Moses was replaced with the New Covenant of Jesus, and thus the only Ark that we "need" is that of the womb of our Blessed Mother.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
