Dear Maria:

The Bible tells us that Satan is the father of all lies. While this is true, and that Satan inspires lies, most lies told by us are our own doing for our own reasons. Your friends lies may be a result of her psychiatric condition.

Lies always affect other people. Some lies may cause physical harm. Some lies, like that of a con man, can cause financial harm, which in turn can nearly destroy a family. But, most common lies tend to be limited to hurt feelings and sometimes terminated friendships. In the case that you present your have to decide how to handle this with your friend. But, keep in mind, that her behavior may be a result of her psychiatric condition. Nevertheless, your friend needs to be held accountable for her lies.

Your friends interest in various denominations and non-Christian groups (Mormons are not Christian) is most likely also sourced and her psychiatric condition. It may also be a result of her personality, I do not know, since I know nothing about her.

While it is possible there can be demonic involvement in the form of encouraging this dysfunctional behavior since demons will hitchhike on problems that already exist. But, I would suggest that we should not presume demonic involvement especially when the behavior is most likely sourced and her psychiatric condition. Nevertheless, it is always best to err on the side of caution, thus you certainly can pray for her that if there is any demonic involvement that those demons be cast away. You can find prayers that you can pray for her and our Spiritual Warfare Catalog, linked below.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
