Grimoire of Pope Honorius? Matthew Monday, March 19, 2007

Question:

Hi. I came across some information today that Pope Honorius III wrote a Grimoire (spell book) about how to conjure up demons and evil spirits? It appears as though this book is widely circulated among occultists. Why in the world would a Pope write such a thing? I have also seen that it is sometimes is used by anti-catholics to prove a connection of the Catholic Church to the Illuminati, or Satanist organization.

I suffer from an obsessive compulsive disorder and things like this scare me, because i'm plagued by constant "What-If?" thoughts. All day long i'll have these thoughts, "What if the Church is a big lie?" "What if you've been duped?" "What if the Church is involved secretly with Satan?" I clearly DO NOT want to believe these things but they haunt me constantly and disturb my prayer time. I attend Mass every day but these things still haunt me. Can you help me with this? Thank you and God Bless you.

Dear Matthew:

Never fear. Pope Honorius III DID NOT write a Grimoire. This is legend promoted by anti-catholics. I noticed that the Grimoire written allegedly by the Pope is available on Amazon for $500. Anyone who buy that at $500 thinking it is really the writings of the Pope, I have a oceanside villa in Arizona to sell them.

The real story of Pope Honorius can be found in the Catholic Encyclopedia: click here

In terms of the "what-ifs", let me suggest something to you that you need to repeat over and over and over in your mind when you have these thoughts:

God is not a liar.......
God is not a liar.......
God is not a liar.......

What does God say about the Church?

Mat 16:18 And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

We might have corrupt Popes, and we have had corrupt Popes. We may have corrupt Cardinals, bishops, and priests, and we have had those things. But the CHURCH will never be corrupt and can never be because GOD SAID SO, and God is not a liar.

There is even a historical example proving that the gates of hell cannot prevail about the Church.

In the 6th century Empress Theodora wanted to bring the Church into the Monophysite heresy. Through various intrigues she arranged to have Vigilius placed on the thrown. It is believed that Vigilius actually murdered the sitting pontiff, Pope Silverius, in order to make way for his seat on the Throne of Peter.

Vigilius was the lackey of Empress Theodora and in conspiracy with her to bring the Church into heresy.

Vigilius was made Pope, but when he sat in the Chair of Peter something happened to him. He had gone through all sorts of intrigues to get to the Throne of Peter to specifically bring the Church into heresy, but once there, he could not do it.

He sent a letter to Empress Theodora saying that he could not go against the teachings of his predecessors. As a result Vigilius was exiled. Years later, after Theodora's death, I think, he was allowed to return, but died on the way home.

Here is a case where a man had the purpose and intent to bring the Church into heresy and became Pope to accomplish that, yet could not do it. There are other lesser examples of this throughout history.

We have had corrupt popes, but not once did any of those popes EVERY make their corruptions church teaching. Their sins were their personal sins, the Church remained intact.

Popes may sin, but the Church is holy because Christ is holy and the Church is the bride of Christ.

It is ONLY the Catholic Church, and the Catholic Church alone, that has maintained 100% integrity of its dogma. No other Christian group can claim that. Every other Christian group -- the Orthodox, the Anglicans, the Protestants, the post-Protestant groups -- have all made changes in their fundamental doctrines over the years. Only the Catholic Church has remained unchanged in its fundamental doctrines. This is a testimony of the Truth of Christ's words, "the gates of hell shall not prevail."

God is not a liar.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
