Heaven bound mabey or not..... John A Tuesday, May 8, 2007

Question:

Hey,
(quick side note)
No offense to the Satanists but tell people you are an Atheist it scares them more than a Satanist dose LoL...(I know from experience)

Anyways back to the question. As the faith tradition I picked when I answered the question says I am a new age spiritual mutt : ) I take inspiration from anywhere I can. I will sometimes(when I am in the right mood) attend a Mass,Wiccan circle, and Buddhist Dharma talk in the same week.(Mass way less than the other two though). I was even a volunteer for the base chapel to set up services for different faiths if they needed help so I could talk with many different faiths. Anyways I love watching the Mass seeing people contemplating the rosary. I love the way the church almost glows when people are really spiritually into the Mass.
Anyways I could never believe 100% a large majority of Catholic teachings but is it still o.k. to be a non christian at a Mass as long as you do not take communion?

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM

Dear John:

I find it fascinating that you, as an atheist, observe the "glow" during Mass. That glow is the presence of the Holy Spirit (which, of course, you do not believe in I guess).

To your question, you are most welcomed at any Mass as long as you do not receive Communion or disrupt the Mass. The Church is always open to anyone.

Communion, however, is a sign of unity of faith and thus it is reserved for those who are in fact in union with the Catholic Faith. Otherwise you are very welcomed to attend Mass.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
