Question: Brother Ignatius, My question regards throwing away mail and pamphlets that i get in the mail or that people give to me that have images of Jesus and Mary in them. I feel bad when i throw them out. Today at Mass, someone gave me a little booklet written by John Vennari, i felt uncomfortable having the booklet because John Vennari is an ultra-traditionalist who puports that there was a masonic infiltration into the Church and he says bad things about Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI. I felt bad throwing it out because of the images of Jesus and Mary on it. I kissed the book and then threw it out. What are your opinions on all of this? Thanks and God Bless. Matthew
Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM Dear Matthew: I do not see a problem with throwing out this literature unless the items are blessed. Blessed objects must be disposed of properly. But, if you feel uncomfortable, tear up the covers or pamphlets so that that the images are no longer recognizable before throwing them out. God Bless, Bro. Dear Matthew:

I do not see a problem with throwing out this literature unless the items are blessed. Blessed objects must be disposed of properly.

But, if you feel uncomfortable, tear up the covers or pamphlets so that that the images are no longer recognizable before throwing them out.
