Ouija Board Questions janet Saturday, October 27, 2007

Question:

Bro. Ignatius,

My 17-old daughter told me that she was going over to a "friend of a friend's house" to play on a Ouija board and I adamantly told her to stay away from it and anyone who asks her to participate in it. She then went on to tell me that there is a spirit in that house that is placing its hands on top of others and pushing and shoving members of the household around. I told her that was reason enough to stay the heck away from all of it and that the Ouija board was indeed a portal to bringing this presence into that house. My daughter agreed that this was scary and promised to stay away (unfortunately she refuses to attend mass anymore and has not for a few years).

I also told her that when I was a young teen my sister and I played with the board and brought a spirit named "mamsey" into the room who told us he had murdered six people. My sister and I have had nothing but bad luck in love, jobs and finances for our entire lives--and we are now in our 50's. I know it could have been worse, but I still can't help but feel we have some sort of a curse on us for messing with that Ouija board. Things continually fail and go wrong in our lives despite our best efforts to be positive.

I am a devout Catholic; my sister however is not. When I told my daughter this, she said that on more than one occasion she had seen a "tall dark image" walk down the halls and enter my room. She swears by this and was too afraid to tell me. I have felt covers pulled off of me at night and terrifying voices in my ears, fortunately not that often but it has occurred at various times in my life and I am now in another bout of terrible depression (due to job loss)

Despite all of this, I have a direct question for you: my daughter said that the owner of that house has a cat that had a litter of kittens and is looking for homes for the cats. I told my daughter that after losing two cats last year that I eventually wanted to get another one - but I am afraid to take a kitten (innocent animal though it may be) from a house that evil may reside in.

Am I being overly cautious? I do not want some cat that may have bad energy around it in my house, possibly bringing such negativity with it. My daughter thinks I am being ridiculous. What is your take on this?

Thank you for reading and may God bless you in this wonderful online ministry.

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM

Dear Janet:

The cat is the least of your problems. Although animals can be a familiar for demons, it is unlikely that any problem would come from the cat unless the owners are occultist.

It sounds to me that you need to be more concerned about your own situation. What you are describing in your own experience and your daughter's report implies that there is still a possible bondage upon you as a result of your participation in the Ouija Board.

The Ouija Board is perhaps the most dangerous paraphernalia that we can mess with.

It also sounds like your daughter has already played around with the Ouija Board and has experienced a spirit presence. This may, perhaps, be one reason why she has stopped going to Mass.

I would suggest that you and your daughter follow the advice found in our Seven Steps to Self-Deliverance linked in the HELP section that is linked below. Also use the appropriate prayers in the Prayer Catalog linked below. (e.g., Hedge Prayer of Protection, Rebuking Particular Spirits, Breaking Curses and Spells).

Involvement in the Ouija Board needs to be renounce and prayers to reclaim ground said. If Ouija Board involvement has never been confessed in the Sacrament of Confession, then that needs to be done, too.

Your daughter is opening herself up to be sifted like wheat by the devil by not going to Mass and messing around with things like the Ouija Board. Without the Eucharist we are "open season" for the arrows of the devil.

If the self-help strategies do not help then contact me about a personal consultation.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
