I think my husband is possessed or severly opressed Lisa Thursday, March 27, 2008

Question:

At 19 he found out he was supposed to be aborted, he was abused and neglected as a child, he has struggled with addiction with times of calm. I have seen his whole face change as venom spewed from his mouth, we have had appliances turn on and off by themselves, banging with no explaination in our home.

I have put my hands on him and prayed in my mind the Our Father and he told me to stop and tried to bless him in his sleep and he literally growled while asleep. Without his knowing I had our Priest bless our salt he stopped eating at home.

I do not know what to do, I had a Mass said for him and have prayed the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet every day. Recently he was going to have a cyst removed and the want to biopsy it and he has spoken about suicide and told me he was going to hell. Please advise me in this he will not go near a Church.God Bless you

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM

Dear Lisa:

I am sorry to hear about your husband. From what you describe it certainly appears like there might be a problem of demonization. But keep in mind that you are not qualified to make that judgment. In order for me to make that judgment I would have to talk with him.

One of the things you need to do is to NOT ever again lay your hands on him to pray for his deliverance. You do not know what you are doing and this can be dangerous.

You can continue to pray for him with the prayers you have already been using. In addition, I would advise some of the Spiritual Warfare prayers listed in our Catalog linked below. Specifically, the Hedge Prayer for a Wayward Spouse, Rebuking Particular Spirits (identify demons by their attributes such as anger, fear, lust, etc.)., and any others that may be useful.

Unfortunately, there is not much more that can be done directly unless he is willing to ask for help. One cannot be helped who does not want help.

But, prayer for him, in the long run, may bring him to a time that he will ask for help. Persevere in prayer. Never underestimate the power of prayer. Pray and be patient. In time hopefully he will ask for help.

We will certainly be in prayer for him, and for you.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
