Question: Dear Brother I think I have found a priest who will look at my case - I feel very oppressed by something and physically feel a force going up thru my body all the time. As I have said I have been to doctors and while I now have a medication that keep the pain at bay the discomfort which is severe never goes away and I cannot concentrate on anything or make judgements. I studied philosophy and have a graduate degree but all my intellectual capacities are gone. I think this priest may perform a minor exorcism but are there any other prayers that would help me that the priest could say. Is there anything else yiou would suggest? Does it matter who does the praying whether it is a minor exorcism or deliverance prayers? I realise a priest would seem to be better than a layperson as he is consecrated but even amongst priests are some 'better' than others in this area? I am sorry to be so crass but I am tormented day and night by this I cannot lead a good life because of it It raises a barrier between myself and God myself and others Myself and everything. It makes you lose the most basic confidence in yourself. I would appreciate any advice you could give me about this. Finally I cannot make an appointment on your site I am writing from outside the States and your format does not seem to accept my info - I would like to speak with you - is there any way I can arrange it??
Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM Dear Marie: A "minor" exorcism and a "Deliverance" are the same thing. It doesn't matter much whether the person doing the deliverance (minor exorcism) is a priest, a consecrated brother like myself, or a laymen if they do not know what they are doing. Generally, to resolve situations like this takes a LOT more than a few exorcism (deliverance) prayers. That is why we have a Nine Step Counseling process to dig deep into the issue in order to resolve not only the harassment or oppression, but the cause of the demonic attacks. Hopefully, this priest you mentioned knows what he is doing. As far as contacting us, we take clients from all over the world. Our Help Request Form lists only about 25-30 countries as those are the ones we can call for less than 2 cents per minute. Our budget doesn't allow for more expensive calls. However, if you live in a country that we do not service, then we can still offer you counseling if you pay for the phone call. That can be expensive. Typically, a client is on the phone with us for about Twelve Hours over a three month period. That is an average of about one hour per week (some weeks will be 1 1/2 hours and other weeks maybe only 30 minutes). I just put a note on the Help Request Form to this effect.
