Question:

Dear Brother
I would like to know if the Verichip which is being implanted into some hospital patients in the U.S is in fact the mark of the beast.

Thank You

Michael.

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM

Dear Michael:

No, the Verichip is not the Mark of the Beast. Those who suggest things like that are coming from an interpretation of Revelations derived from Protestant Dispensationalism (which is less than 150 years old).

Dispensationalism is a flawed theory of interpretation.

The Mark of the Beast is symbolic language (the Book of Revelation is all symbolic language). It refers to those people who reject God and rather worship a false god. In the first century the problem was Emperor worship, which is what the passage is talking about directly. Today, the equivalent of the Emperor worship of the first century would be militant atheism in the form of atheistic secularism or of dialectic materialism. The "beast" may be the regimes (nations) who espouse that militant atheism.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
