Question Title Posted By Question Date
Black fuzz? Jeremy Tuesday, May 20, 2008

Question:

I posted a question a month ago about my daughter and a "familiar feeling" in my house. My wife has concerns now as well about my daughters room. One of our day care kids freaks out while in that room for a nap (and none of the other rooms which are darker) and complains of a black fuzz that hovers at the ceiling. Any thoughts?

I am always skeptical because I think these activities are rather childish if they are truly spiritual. I find them rather pathetic and weak. I guess I figure something so "powerful" ought to be able to do more than look like a shadow on the wall and scare a 2 year old. But as she is two and seems to be coroborating things I have heard from others, and she has no way of knowing of these things I cannot out of hand dismiss her claims either. What are your thoughts on the matter?

Why only that room and those children? Odd thing is, any child who has occupied that (extremely girly and colorfully happy looking) room has had odd behavior while occupying that room. Often displaying symptoms of depression; bi-polar like behavior. But since they have moved out of that room there is a healthy and balanced demeanor to them. As this is limited to 2000 characters I must cut it short. How can we discuss this more?

I know there are demons about, I do not doubt that. But I am not superstitious either. If it can be explained by normal phenomena I prefer that! Thanks for your patience. Pax tecum. Jeremy

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM

Dear Jeremy:

It is not unusual for demons to "appear" as shadows. In fact, that is the most common way they manifest if they manifest visually at all.

It is also not unusual to bother little children. Demons seek to exploit the basic truth that we read from Scripture: "Teach a child the way he should go and when he grows old he will not depart".

Children are impressionable. The demons have a motivation to exploit that impressionability in hopes the child will develop curiosity or interest in them, or the occult, or whatever, when they grow up.

I have had several clients whose demonization began with "invisible friends" in childhood. Sometimes the invisible friends that little children have are merely their imagination. Othertimes the invisible friends may be their Guardian Angel, and sometimes it is a demon.

Thus, the bottomline is that it is certainly possible that there is a demonic element in what you are describing.

The suspicion of demonic involvement increases when you mention that the children's behavior changes in that particular room, but returns to normal in other rooms. This is also a common phenomenon.

I would advise that you keep the kids out of that room. Then I would advise that the room be blessed and cleared. We have a House Blessing in our Spiritual Warfare Prayer Catalog linked below that you can use. If a priest will do that blessing, then great. If not, we can arrange for me to lead the blessing with you over the phone.

I would move the kids out of that room until the situation is resolved.
