re deliverence quest Tom Sunday, December 14, 2008

Question:

I am sure my priest director is not experienced although he prays latin excorcism prayers over me.He has not made an attempt to id the evil.I have been delivered from the "voices" a year ago. Also, awful dreams have stopped due to this intercession..As I have said there are times where the demons leave and I feel semi-liberated enough to even search for work. However, they come back and they make it known when they enter back as I experience them coming back throught enterance points of the ears, nose, and at times the eyes. They feel like ash and seem to have a vibrating quality that interferes with thinking and seems to constrict internally.

I see them at times. They often look like black mists that whirl around like a tornado.Sometimes they appear as blackdot like ash as if from a fire that has an crackling sound.I havent seen the animal shadow forms for awhile but this is also how they appear. The worst thing is when shorty after confession they enter and cause me to experience the most extreme sexual temptation where it takes supernatural heroic grace to escape submittion to this temptation to sexual sin.(masturbation)

Often it seems to obtain control on my mind and body to almost force this sin.I have made tremendous strides from abstaining with Gods help but I have fallen and cant afford another relapse because of the biblical reprocusions.I am single, nmarried, nkids, my day consists of adoration, mass, rosary atleast 3 day or no sleep.I have joined AA so I attend meetings.

I was wondering if I should stop prolife attendence for the sake of avoiding spirits outside theses clinics?I really hate 2 because it is my only joy in life. What do you think?

Does God will deliverence if we stay in the state of grace or does he allow us to be overcome by darkness because we willingly jumped into the shark tank? THus, the spiritual predators act naturaly in their dominion and we are left to it.

Does God make a deree in some cases where the individual like Saul is left to divine punishment for disobedience in which there is no furher role for him in life and his fate remains to be played out like a prewrote script even though the person is repentant and strive for purity and holiness?Thank you for your help.I will be sure 2 ask for further help.

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM

Dear Tom:

You need to remember the promises of God. St. Paul tells us in 1 Cor 10:13

No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.

Heroic grace is not necessary. God says that ordinary grace always gives you a way of escape from temptation. In addition, Heroic grace is something altogether different and does not apply in a situation like this.

You mention that you cannot "afford another relapse because of the biblical reprocusions". What repercussions would this be? It doesn't matter how many times we sin, we can be forgiven each time. There is no limit in this life in which some special repercussion is applied.

I understand you are single, but your also mention "nmarried, nkids". I do not know what that means. Be sure to write in proper English and do not use "texting" abbreviations is that is what that is. "2 ask" is spelled "to ask". You might think this has nothing to do about anything, but it is important for you to focus your mind and practice patience.

I also do not understand this sentence: "my day consists of adoration, mass, rosary atleast 3 day or no sleep". Does this mean that you pray the rosary three times a day? and if you do not pray the rosary three times a day you do not go to bed?

If that is what you are talking about, you need to stop that. You need to get the proper rest regardless of whether or not you have prayed the rosary three times that day.

As remaining demonized there are many reasons that God may allow demonization to continue. For example:

1) there may be hooks remaining in our lives that demons can use as an excuse to hang on to our lives. Unitil those hooks are removed deliverance may not be complete.

2) there are things that we need to learn about ourselves and/or about God and until will learn those things deliverance may not be complete.

3) God knows that it is in the best interest of the person to remain demonized to some level for some reason (e.g. God did not deliver St. Paul and used the demonic harassment St. Paul was experiencing as a way to keep him humble [2 Cor 12:7-10]).

4) There can be problems of mental illness or personality disorders that make the person vulnerable to continued demonization. Those issues may have to be stabilized before deliverance is fully possible.

5) God may choose some people to be "suffering souls". A person who chronically suffers does not mean one is a suffering soul. A suffering soul is specially called by God to suffer in holiness and sanctity for the sake of others. This is rare.

6) any number of other reasons that only God knows.

Your example of Saul is not accurate. Neither Saul, nor we, have some script of our lives from which we have no choice but to follow. God has given us free will. As such, we do have to accept the consequences of our decisions.

I would advise you to be sure to learn the faith accurately, live out that faith as best as you can, participate in the Sacraments frequently (Confession and Eucharist also have a deliverance effect), Adoration weekly, prayers and devotions as any good Catholic would do.

In addition, use the Spiritual Warfare prayers linked below, and also do the Seven Steps for Self-Deliverance. Continue with your spiritual director and his prayers for you.

With all that, if you are still having problem then I would advise that you see a psychiatrist to be sure about any psychiatric issues, and then perhaps contact us for direct deliverance counseling when we open up the service again.

We will be in prayer for you.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
