friend hears barking at night Lenny Tuesday, February 17, 2009

Question:

I have a friend that we have been praying for and have prayed with who is experiencing seeing scarey faces at night when she is trying to sleep and she also feels something pushing her into her bed. Last night she could not sleep because everytime she started to drift off she heard a dog bark in her ear.

She is a newly converted Catholic over the past 5 years and she is very prayerful, she attends mass as often as possible and she goes to confession regularly. We have had a priest pray over her with the prayers of the Church for deliverance and he gave her a nine day novena of psalms to pray. She had to return for a second time of prayers from him after the novena was done. This happened last summer and the manifestations went away but now they have returned.

It seems like whenever this reimerges is when she is doing something spiritual, like the consecration to Jesus through Mary by St. Louis De Montfort.

Another coincidence has been her drinking wine socially. We have told her to stop drinking the wine at this time. Do you have any suggestions on what we should do next to help her be free of this?

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM

Dear Lenny:

It is common for the Enemy to disturb us when we are making positive advances in our spiritual life. The Enemy's purpose, of course, is to distract us from our endeavors and perhaps even try to get us to quit. We must persevere. As the Bible says in James 4:7, Submit to God and resist the devil and he will flee.

If the prayers of the priest and her devotions and living the good Catholic life are not resolving these situations, then that may suggest an attachment of some sort that will take more work to overcome.

The first step is always to live a good Catholic life, doing all the things that good Catholics do -- Sunday Mass (or daily if possible) and on Holy Days, frequent confession and reception of the Eucharist, daily prayers and devotions, performing good works, and at least one hour per week in Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

With all that as the foundation, the next thing I advise is for her to go through the Seven Steps to Self-Deliverance linked below. Also to use whatever prayers that are pertinent to her situation found in the Spiritual Warfare Prayer Catalog, also linked below.

Prayers that she should certainly say are the Hedge Prayer of Protection and also the Rebuking Particular Spirits.

If she tries these self-help measures and still has problems then she ought to contact us for a Personal Consultation. The Help Request link is at the bottom of the HELP page linked below. If the Help Request link is closed, check back later.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
