Question:

Could you please comment Lk 6,28: ''bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.'' A franciscan priest (also in deliverance ministry) told me that the person cannot be fully delivered until he blesses the one who cursed him, put spell etc.
(thanks for your answer)

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM

Dear Mario:

We are always to return good for evil. When someone does evil to us we are not to get revenge, but to return to that person good. Thus, if someone curses us, we ought to bless them (Matt 5:44; Luke 6:35).

It is also true that those who are demonized must do this. They must forgive those who have hurt them. Holding a grudge, festering bitterness, withholding forgiveness are all "hooks" that demons will use to remain in a person's life.

We must let go of these hurts, and of those who have hurt us, and let God take care of them. But, more than that we must forgive them, and return a blessing to them. In this comes a freedom, a deliverance that frees us from the fetters of those hurts, a healing.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
