Question: I listen to alot of different music. One of my favourite artists is Jimi Hendrix. I was debating with my friend whether he was influenced by evil or if his music was. Is there any proof other than a ex-girlfriend about hendrix being evil? i am refering to this btw "Jimi Hendrix believed he was possessed by a spirit. Hendrix's former girlfriend said in an interview on the Sound Track of the film Jimi Hendrix: He used to always talk about some devil or something was in him, you know, and he didn't have any control over it, he didn't know what made him act the way he acted and what made him say the things he said, and songs . . . just came out of him. . . He was so tormented and just torn apart . . . and I used to talk about my grandmother and all her weird stuff, you know, and he used to talk about us going down there and having some root lady or somebody see if she could drive this demon out of him." ...and what is a root lady??? lol
Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM Dear Aben: The girlfriend was very specific. There is no reason to doubt her. This is especially the case since what she said about Hendrix was true about large numbers of the musical stars of the time. There is no surprise here. As for additional proof, I do not know of any other than to look at the man's life and music. He was indeed tormented by something; may he rest in peace. As for a difference between Hendrix being influenced or just his music, there can be no real separation. What a musician produces is from his soul.
