Dear Brother Ignatius,

My sister and I seem to experience conscious visions in our head without any control. Very spectacular kaleidoscope like visions with horizontal and vertical patterns fluctuating as a kaleidoscope, animated cartoon happening when my eyes were closed, which I did not create on my own. We are awake when this happens, and she complains that she sometimes cannot go to sleep because these visions, although very intricate and all, keep her awake.

I dont know if this is a genetic physical/mental problem that we share or what. She experienced a dream similar that I had. A pleasant dream interrupted by a shadow, like a cloak flashing and covering our line of vision, and the most fearful feeling of pure evil. When I told her about my experience, she said she knew what I was talking about.

She also has talked about being awake and floating toward the ceiling and over top of her roof, and seeing people in their houses - it was very real, going about their business. She said a spirit asked her if she wanted to go farther up to the heavens, and she sensed evil, and said no. She felt a whoosh back down to her bed after that. Apparently shes had scary visions since her 30s.

She and I both conclude that it is of demonic nature. But the part about seeing things while awake, but the eyes closed is really strange. For example, I love frosty the snowman cartoon, and the vision I had was a beautiful cartoon or Mr. Mrs. Frosty walking along a floor in a kitchen, and carrying a broom, etc. and I was like watching this cartoon while conscious. It had all the makings of the perfect cartoon for me - I was totally mesmerized by it, but also disturbed by it. When I opened my eyes, it was gone.

I dont know why this is happening to me and my sister. My experiences have been only a few times. We are both practicing Catholics.
