Question: Dear Brother Ignatius Mary, Greetings to you during this time of Lent. My question is: Could a Catholic Church and the property on it be infested? Could heresy in the Church cause this? In the past I had many odd occurances happen to me and had a very holy priest pray a deliverance pray over me and was greatly relieved. Also I go to the Sacrament of Confession at least twice a month, sometimes once and have conquered through the "grace of God" many sins, faults and failings. I also stopped going to the Catholic Church which is 5 minutes away from our home because of heresy and very odd occurances there. The Catholic Church we committed going to is the Cathedral which is almost 45 minutes away, so to receive the Sacrament of Communion more often during Lent I've gone back to attending this Church which is closer. Sure enough within several weeks I'm having strange things happen again. People approaching me that have either gone to a healer, have a friend who is a psychic and into witchcraft, or are inviting me to meet a woman who's a seer in our town, and finally a visiting priest that I went to Confession to who told me that "everyone" is going to Heaven. Of course, all of these things I have not entertained nor have plans to. In fact, the woman who is a seer here has been discredited by the Church and has warned people to stay away. This group follows what's called Our Lady of Nations and I am very aware that the Catholic Church has not approved these apparitions. The main question I have for you is, Is it possible that God is giving warnings to not go to this particular Church? For these strange events do not happen at the Cathedral. Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM Dear Elizabeth: Forgive me for the delay in responding. It is possible that demons can gain hold of a particular parish. This happens more often than most people realize. There can be many reasons for this. Most often it comes from curses, but can also come from heresies and heterodoxies consistently taught by the priest or laity there. But that can be a situation of which comes first the chicken or the egg. The unorthodoxy can certainly attract demons, or demonic infestations already there can influence the development of unorthodoxies. In any event, you have your experimental data. Strange things at the close-by Parish, no weirdness at the Cathedral, and then strange things at the close parish again. That seems like a clue to me.
