Disposing of a book... Jeremy Sunday, May 18, 2008

Question:

I am a convert from Mormonism. As such I have a set of scriptures which contain the Holy Bible, Book of Mormon, and other Mormon scriptures bound together in one book. I wish to be rid of the Mormon scriptures all together but have the problem of them being bound together with the Bible. How do I dispose of them? Is there some prayer used in the disposal of sacred scriptures I can use to burn them all together without desecrating the Bible? Thanks for your help. Jeremy

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM

Dear Jeremy:

Welcome to the Church. I praise God for your conversion.

If you wish, you can send us the book. We can always use it in our training program.

If you wish to do that send it to:

Legion of St. Michael
1111 S. Sheridan Ave.
Ottumwa, IA 52501-5350

If you do not want to do that then you need bless the book with Holy Water and then burn the book thoroughly until it is nothing but ashes if possible. This will probably require burning is several times.

Once it is burned as thoroughly as possible, it should be buried in the ground.

There is no particular prayer you need to say when doing this. Just tell God what you are doing and that you are committing His Word to the earth.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
