Question: My husband is having an affair and has left me and our 4 children for this woman. I am standing for our marriage as I truly believe that marriage is till death do us part. I am praying daily and go to Mass 4 or 5 times a week. I am trying to love him from a biblical point of view. However my prayers do not seem to being answered. He is gone 7 months and says he is in love. I know this love is only fantasy and will fade in time. He was a practising Catholic before all this started but now has all the regular lines against TheBible and church. Can you give me any advice as what to do? I will take my Husband and am prepared to wait for Gods time to send him home.

God answers all prayer, but our prayer may not be answered as we wish. In the case of praying for something that requires the decision of another person, God does not always get His way. God will not force anyone to do anything. Thus, God will not force your husband to come to his senses and come home. God can try to convince your husband, but what happens will be the decision your husband makes. You certainly can lift up your prayers. That will help. In fact we have a prayer for a wayward spouse, Hedge Prayer for Return of a Wayward Spouse and a Prayer for Marriage. I suggest both of these prayers, but there are no guarantees. As I said, God will not force him to come home to you, but these prayers might soften him up some so that he will listen to God. God answers all prayer, but our prayer may not be answered as we wish. In the case of praying for something that requires the decision of another person, God does not always get His way.
